Why You Shouldn't Blame the Instagram Algorithm

I'm pretty sure we've all slammed the IG algorithm at some point in our career, right? Trust us, there's no judgment over here!

We can freely admit that the Instagram algorithm is its own kind of pain, it changes constantly and it's complex, to begin with. So, there's no doubt that we've all felt a little personally victimized by it. However, as social media managers, strategists, marketers, and business owners on the platform, we have to be the ones to adapt and master the algorithm!

While we’d love to just say, “oh, the algorithm is the issue,” and move on, we have to get to the root of the real issue in order to move forward and be successful on socials. So, before we go all Karen on the algorithm, ask yourself these questions about your content:

  1. Did you use a hook to pull in your audience?

  2. Did do your research on what type of content your audience wants to see?

  3. Did you use hashtags and keywords?

  4. Are you discussing relevant topics and sharing valuable insight that hasn’t been said before?

  5. Did you use a graphic or photo that was eye-catching and on brand?

  6. Did you include an effective call-to-action to let your audience know what action you want them to take next?

  7. Are you posting at a good time when your audience is online?

If you're having trouble mastering the algorithm and are seeing your social media metrics in a downward spiral, DM us and we can work through it together!
