Why It's Important To Audit Your SMM Business Tools

We spend so much time building our perfect toolkit for our businesses, but what happens after that? Since we are both social media managers AND business owners, I think we could set records for having the largest toolkits. Not only do we have our typical business management tools, but we have our all social media management tools as well. Not to mention, updates and new tools being introduced by the minute get thrown into the mix. So, there's no doubt that some of our tools can be forgotten or might not be the right fit.

Of course, it's easy to look past that when you have a million other things going on; however, the last thing we want is to continue to pay for and put time into tools that just plain aren't working. This is where auditing your social media management business' tool becomes key!

What does the process of auditing our tools look like? Follow along with our step-by-step!

Keep a Running List

It can be helpful to keep a running list of all the tools you sign up for. This way, no tools get lost or forgotten about. You can even save your usernames in the same spot since it seems like every single website requires a different one these days!

Set a Timeframe

When do you want to audit your tools - every 6 months, 1 year, every 2 years? Make it official and set a timeframe for you to consistently go back on.

Start Your Audit!

Use the list of tools to breakdown tool at a time and ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What's working well with the tool?

  2. What's not working well with the tool?

  3. What's the ROI of this tool?

  4. Were your goals with using this tool and is it meeting those goals?

    1. If not, are there other tools that might meet these goals?

    2. Are there other subscription levels of the tool that you can try or should you move on to a different tool?

And just like that, your toolkit is back to thriving 🤩 Follow us for more social media management tips!
