6 Tips For When Business is Slower Than Normal

If you are seeing a decline or pause in your business, don’t panic! This isn’t the time to step away from it entirely. Instead, use your new found downtime to get organized, create more content, and set your business up for success when things pick back up again.

Here are our top 6 tips for entrepreneurs during a slow season in business:

USE THIS TIME TO GET ORGANIZED

When was the last time you organized your files? Use a tool such as Google Drive to organize all of your photos, documents, and files. If you are working on a specific marketing campaign create a file for this or create a file for each month to store your content calendar, photos, and more. Organizing your business admin side now will save you in the future when this blows over!

CREATE A NEW FREEBIE OR EMAIL LIST OPT-IN

Grow your email list (or start your email list!) with a freebie. This is a value exchange between something you can give your audience (coupon code, free shipping, a guide, a checklist, a training, etc.) for their email address. Here’s a handy blog post about creating your first opt-in.

GO BACK TO ANY HALF-FINISHED OR STARTED PROJECTS AND FINISH THEM

Do you have any half-finished projects or projects that you want to start? Now is the time! Finish your website you’ve had a landing page on forever, or launch your blog during this time. Now is the time to produce the content, and when your business picks up is when you will feel accomplished with what you have to share.

TAKE AN ONLINE COURSE OR JOIN A MEMBERSHIP

Finally, take that online course you’ve been eyeing to sharpen your skills or learn something new. JUMP ON A NEW MARKETING PLATFORM

Are you only marketing on Instagram and Facebook? Now is the perfect time to jump on a new social media platform such as Pinterest or LinkedIn. Pinterest is perfect for pinning your blog content, social media posts, and more to grow your website traffic and increase subscribers to your email list. LinkedIn is an underutilized tool by creative entrepreneurs. Create an account and connect with people you’ve worked with, clients, and more to grow your network. You never know, a connection of a connection could lead to a paying client or customer. If you have the budget, experiment with paid ads on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest (only if you have a solid presence on these platforms!)

SET UP TOOLS OR SYSTEMS FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND CLIENT PROCESSES

If your client systems or tools that you use are a mess, or if you aren’t using any, now is the time to get these set up! Create a seamless client system by using a CRM such as Dubsado to invoice, send proposal, book calls, and track projects. Click here to get 20% off your first month or year with Dubsado!
