How To Create a Value First Content Strategy

What are we on social media for? For connection and VALUE! Socials are such a great opportunity to learn and educate others! So how do we as businesses on these platforms create content that educates?

What is a value-based content strategy?

The best content is content that others get value from. Don't be afraid to put yourself in your audience's shoes or ask them what content they want to see! What do they struggle with? What are their pain points? What are their desires? When you strike an emotional chord with them, it will connect deeply, and they will remember you when they need that solution.

How much value should you actually provide on social?

Use the 80/20 rule! The 80/20 rule indicates that 80% of social media posts should be useful to your audience - meaning it educates, entertains, or offers a solution to their problems. The other 20% should promote your business. By using this ratio, businesses are able to connect to their audience, establish trust, and not overwhelm their audience by being "sold" all the time.

How do you never run out of content ideas?

  • Embrace the silence - take a moment! Sometimes the best content ideas come from taking a day off from your socials and coming back with a fresh perspective.

  • Find a lesson in everything - be conscious of things that happen on a day-to-day basis and turn them into a learning opportunity for your audience! There are probably things that you do on a daily that could be turned into educational content.

  • Ask your audience - what do you want to see more of? Go to the next step to figure out what your audience wants from you. Market research is so so so important and can be as easy as an IG story poll.

  • Designate content pillars - content pillars are the social strategy slice of ✨heaven✨ Content pillars are categories for your content and are great for helping with content inspo. For example, ours are Knowledge Bombs, Know + Like + Trust Builders, Visibly Posts, and Money Makers. You can also use educational, entertainment, inspirational, promotional, and shareable.

  • Write down your ideas - we feel a brainstorming session coming on! Break out your favorite notebook and write down everything that comes to mind.

  • Scroll less and be conscious of what you are consuming - We know it's easy to become a zombie when it comes to social scrolling, but instead, we challenge you to find the value in the content you're consuming, too. You'll be surprised at what content ideas come from just scrolling through your feed!
