How To Add Instagram Text in App

Inside the Instagram app, you can add text by first, uploading your video. Once it's uploaded and you click "next," you will find yourself on the editing screen. Here you'll see an "Aa" button where you can select to add text, across the bottom. Once this is selected, you can add your text and customize it with font, color, animation, background, and more to fit your branding. Once customized, select "Done" and you can move your text to the desired place on your screen.

Other Text-Adding Tools

Creating text inside the Instagram app isn't the only way. You can use various apps to add the text for you, and even upload your brand kit with fonts and colors to make it more personal to your brand specifically. Here are examples of tools you can use to add text to your Reels:

Canva

This is great for quick, on-brand text edits. When it comes to text timing within the same slide, this is a limitation we've run into!

Veed

This is one of our favorite video editing tools for its advanced edits, transitions, and editing board. It's great for - be mindful that is does come at a cost, too!

AdobePremire Pro

Of course, this is the elite option for video editing, but it does take time to master this platform as a whole and it does come with a monthly or annual subscription cost to be aware of!

CapCut

This is created by TikTok and it's great for memes and edits, but it can also be a way to add in fun text and animations.

Rules for Adding Text:

  1. Font size — make it clear and readable

  2. Colors — choose a contrasting color! No yellow on white, or dark colors on a darker background. If all else fails, add a background or outline to your text to make it pop!

  3. Don't overdo it — think of it like a PowerPoint presentation! You shouldn't have too many points on a page, that it overwhelms the reader.
