How To Write An Instagram Bio That Attracts Your Ideal Clients

You only have a few seconds to catch the attention span of new followers on your Instagram account. The best way to attract them? Write a compelling bio with keywords about your business, your offers, and yourself.

ADD KEYWORDS TO YOUR NAME

There are two distinct names that your brand can have on Instagram. The username, otherwise known as the handle, should be something relatable to your brand such as your business name, or your name if you are a personal brand. The name should include keywords since this is searchable on Instagram.

ADD KEYWORDS TO YOUR BIO

You only have 150 characters to fill your bio with important information about your business, so using keywords is important. Answer the following questions: who are you, who do you serve, and how do you serve them.

WRITE IT IN LIST FORMAT - NOT A PARAGRAPH

For your bio to look cleaner, you should write it in a list format. This makes it easier to read, and is looks better aesthetically when quickly glancing at your profile. You can use emoji’s to determine the line breaks instead of bullet points to make it more fun and personal.

MAKE IT PERSONAL

I always like to make bio’s personal with either a fun fact about the person or business if room permits. This helps differentiate your business from your competitor’s and it helps the follower get to know you on a more personal level. Social media is meant to be social after all.

INCLUDE A CALL-TO-ACTION

You should include a call-to-action on the last line of your bio, right above the link. This can be done by saying: visit my website, shop the products, or promotion of a campaign or sale. It is also important to add why your followers should click on it - what are they going to get out of it?

USE A LINK TREE TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR BIO

You only get one link on Instagram, and you can’t add links to captions of posts. So you have to make it count. I recommend setting up a Linktree or creating a landing page on your website like the one that I use. This is a great way to promote multiple campaigns that you have going on, promote your email list opt-in, or direct your followers to a blog or online store.
