How To Increase Engagement On Instagram

One of the main concern of business owners who use social media is how can they get more engagement.

“More engagement = more buzz around your brand, and potentially could lead to converting followers into paying clients.”

ENGAGEMENT IS A TWO-WAY STREET

A lot of my clients tell me that they suffer from not getting a lot of engagement, but when I ask them what efforts they do to engage with people they are silent. Engagement is a two-way street. You can’t expect people to engage with your content if you are never engaging with their’s. This can be done by liking, commenting, following, and responding to stories with meaningful messages.

WRITE COMPELLING CAPTIONS

A great way to increase engagement on your posts is by writing compelling captions. Don’t just write simple captions such as “Happy Friday!” and just say that. How does someone react to that? Yes, they can say happy Friday back to you, but they aren’t going to engage with just one sentence. Use your captions to tell a story. Excite your followers, bring out their emotions, and they will engage with you.

ASK QUESTIONS

An obvious way to grow engagement is by asking questions on your posts. Asking questions will help get the conversation started, but it is important that you are responding to their comments as well. This will help keep the conversation going, and it will help you create a genuine connection with them.

BE ACTIVE, BE SOCIAL

You need to be an active user on Instagram for followers to engage with you. You can’t schedule your content to automatically publish to Instagram and expect that you are done. Show up. Post to Instagram stories, actively engage with users, and always respond to comments and DM’s. Don’t just like them!

USE THE RIGHT HASHTAGS ON YOUR POSTS

Hashtags are the best way to increase organic engagement and growth on social media. Instagram allows for you to use up to 30 hashtags on every post, and you should take advantage of this by using the right hashtags that are relevant to your content, industry, and products and/or services.
