How To Set Boundaries With Social Media Management Clients

Client Boundaries: the gold of social media management ✨

Social media is a big part of our lives, no doubt! However, it doesn't need to be our ENTIRE life. Since we love what we do, we are thriving being our own boss, and running a successful business, we are far from a traditional work situation, but this certainly doesn't mean that we don't been boundaries to help us have a healthy work-life balance!

  • Set Expectations In The Beginning

Let's get one thing straight - boundaries aren't embarrassing. We don't need to feel embarrassed, we don't need to hide them, and we don't need to overthink them. Be transparent about them right from the first call with your client about what those boundaries look like for you and what the process looks like to keep them in place.

  • Office Hours

Office hours can not only help you set boundaries for yourself, but they can help your clients know when to contact you. Office hours are a great "excuse" to let clients know that you aren't available 24-7. Make sure to let your clients know in the onboarding process, add it to your website, or even put it directly in your email signature!

  • Package Pricing

Packages can set up expectations and boundaries in a big way. Consider including your boundaries right in your package, especially when it comes to revision, deadlines, and time frames. We all know that one client that wants 50 revisions, but when the package clearly communicates that two revisions are included, that might help them steer clear of the back-and-forth revision game and can help us time manage and stick to those boundaries! When you are creating or re-structuring your packages, consider your personal boundaries and how you can include them.

  • Snooze Notifications When Needed

I HATE not opening notifications! So, the minute I'm OOO, the notifications are snoozed (much like my seven alarms in the morning). The chances of a social media emergency at 9 pm that you can also handle/solve at 9 pm, is very slim! Turn off those notifications when you are out of the office and relax!

We are so excited for you to implement some of these tips and set your boundaries! Remember that if you have a client that doesn't respect your newfound boundaries, maybe they aren't the best client for you and it's best for your mindset and mental health to let them go - prioritize YOURSELF first!
