3 Issues Every Social Media Manager Runs Into and How To Solve Them

After a little over four years of being in business, we've seen just about everything under the sun when it comes to social media management business issues. However, there are three things, that without a doubt are ALWAYS on the top of the list when we ask new or experienced social media managers what their struggles are.

We scanned through our Facebook Group to confirm the most asked questions, and it's a match. Here are the most common issues we face as social media managers and how we can solve each one:

How do I set my pricing as a social media manager?

Issue #1: pricing. Pricing your services is not as easy as it sounds. We have to think about our expenses, location, education, certifications, experience, clients, hours, income goals, and services...oh, is that all? It's difficult to remain competitive, yet think about what sets us apart as social media managers all at the same time.

So, our magic Social Media Manager pricing formula that we always share is to take your income goal for the month and divide it by the hours that you want to work in that month. And that is going to help you determine per client the packages that you are working with! We recommend our Hashtag Managed Booked Out Social Media Manager episode for more on this subject.

How do I start finding clients as a social media manager?

Issue #2: Where are the clients at?! We aren't going to sugarcoat it here (even though I have a never-ending sweet tooth). The journey to attracting and landing your dream client isn't an easy one! We need to figure out who they are, where they are, and what type of content speaks to them, aka strap on your research cap, sis, or headband if you're in more of a Blair Waldorf/I'm not trying to mess up my hair kind of mood.

Do a deep dive into what your ideal client looks like and create a well-rounded marketing strategy around them. We are talking socials, email lists, freebies, and being wherever they are getting their information, and promoting how we can help them.

How do I manage imposter syndrome as a social media manager?

Issue #3: Imposter syndrome (cue shivers, amirite?). There are a lot of social media managers in the industry these days, but here's the truth: they are your competition, but they aren't really your competition.

You may be offering similar services, but no one does it exactly like you! You are unique, you have something different to offer, and you aren't falling into the comparison game. Instead of putting the energy into all the things you don't feel you can't do, put it into things you are amazing at and the things that are going to make you succeed in this industry. Confidence sells - you got this!
