How to Schedule a Reel with Trending Audio on Instagram

Let's cut to the chase, currently, there's only one way to schedule Reels with trending audios.

When it comes to posting on social media, scheduling tools greatly help us stay consistent and organized when it comes to publishing content. With that being said, there is, of course, certain limitations that come with scheduling tools. One of those being scheduling with trending audios.

Instagram's trending audios aren't supported through many platforms. In this blog, we are answering the commonly asked question of how you can schedule a reel with trending audio.

Scheduling Reels In-App

If you have the schedule Reels feature, within the Instagram app, you can schedule Reels with trending audio. Here's how to use this feature:

  1. Upload your video and select the trending audio you'd like to use

  2. Go over to Advanced Settings

  3. Select "Schedule" and select your date and time

  4. Tap "Done" and return to the Reel editing.

  5. Select "Schedule" to schedule the Reel

Downfalls of Using Instagram's Reels In-App Scheduling:

  1. This is only available on some accounts, so ensure that you have this feature, first!

  2. We find this to be a bit glitchy, so having a backup plan in place can be helpful.

  3. Logging out of your account can unscheduled your Reels, so ensure to stay logged in on the device you used to schedule.

Other Ways to Not Have To Schedule Trending Audios:

If you don't have this feature or aren't sure about giving it a try, you can also (1) focus on original audios, or (2) post manually. Originally audios like voiceovers, talking Reels, or anything else you create first hand can be a fun way to connect with your audience! Posting manually might seam daunting, but it can be seamless! If you use a scheduling tool with an app, download the app to your phone and enable push notifications so you can get reminders to post manually! We love this feature with Later. You can also use a calendar reminder or your project management tool notifications as reminder for this process, too.

Can I Screen Record and Post?

We typically don't recommend this method because Instagram does have AI that categorizes content, that will automatically connect to the audio. However, we know how inconsistent AI can be, so it doesn't always do this in the most consistent way and your content could be at risk of being miscategorized or taken down.

With that being said, when we do present Reels content to clients, we do screen record to showcase the audio and that can work well for approval processes only!
