How Personal Is Too Personal When It Comes to A Personal Brand Account

How personal is too personal when it comes to your biz account?

The answer: whatever you feel comfortable sharing! If you are the face of your brand, it can really put you in the spotlight. People love to see the people, faces, and stories behind brands. There are many social media gurus out there that will tell you that there is a perfect formula or line for separating your personal and professional life, others say that you have to be 100% transparent to connect. Both options are totally fine if that is what's best for them! However, we are here to preach that the level of personalization when it comes to your social media is completely up to you and what you feel comfortable sharing!

"You're just scratching the surface about yourself."

"WOW, overshare much?"

"You're so fake."

"I don't think I needed to know that."

Any follower that says these things, shouldn't be on your mind! Trolls will always be trolls on social media, so don't let that affect you being authentically yourself on social media. We are allllllll so different. If you like to share lots, do it! If you like to keep to yourself, you do you!

Your brand should have a personality, honesty, and connection, we can't disagree with that! However, that should not cost you your privacy or make you feel uncomfortable. If you don't want to do a house tour, don't. If you don't want to share your darkest secret, please don't. If you don't feel comfortable sharing a fun fact about yourself, keep it for just your friends! I think oftentimes we get caught up in thinking that social media is "so fake," that we force people to share more than they really want to to feel "real" on the platforms. The only thing you need to feel real on social media is honesty and personality - and if sharing about yourself or talking about yourself isn't your cup of tea, throw the tea in the harbor and be yourself, sis!

On the other hand, a lot of people connect by sharing stories and details about themselves, and don't let anyone shame you into thinking you are oversharing. If you li If people don't connect to your content, they can unfollow!

In sum, share what makes you feel comfortable, and don't let people sway your decision on that!

We are always here to cheer you on 🎉
