TikTok Ads Explained

TikTok ads leave you feeling like.....🤔❓😵‍💫💫

While TikTok ads can be super beneficial for brands, they are a variety of different types for marketers and business owners to grasp before they can jump into running one. This article will have you mastering TikTok ads in no time!

Types of Ads:

  • In-feed ads are the ads you see between videos on the “For You” page. There are a few different types that fall within the in-feed ad categories:

Image ads are static ads on the page.

Video ads are just like a normal video TikTok or TV commercial.

Spark ads are when you boost the content you've already posted

Carousel ads, which are only available through TikTok’s Audience Network and show up similar to an Instagram carousel, in that you can swipe to see other videos within the same posts.

  • Topview ads are featured at the top of your page and play when you first open the app. Unlike other ads, these cannot be skipped.

  • Branded hashtag challenges are everywhere on TikTok! You might remember Chipolte's #GuacDance challenge or Guess Jeans #InMyDenim challenge. Branded hashtag challenges promote other TikTok users to use the hashtag and join in on the branded fun.

  • Branded effects are another type of "ad." Just like the classic Snapchat filters, TikTok offers branded effects that users can use on their own videos. From funny masks to background changes, to try on this new lipstick color - there are so many creative options when it comes to branded effects.

When it comes to customizing your ad, TikTok has a very similar setup as most social media platforms. You can set your budget, and time frame, and choose your end goal (website visits, online sales, or app installs).
