Our Thoughts on Flodesk's 2024 Email Marketing Report

FloDesk, a popular email marketing platform and the email marketing platform we use here at Social Savvy, recently released its list of 2024 trend predictions for small businesses.

With all the trend prediction reports going around at the beginning of the year, this one stood out to us. In this detailed blog, we are diving into our reaction to each of the 10 points they made and our favorite predictions we can't stop thinking about.

Our Favorite 2024 Trend Predictions:

Community-Led Growth

FloDesk's first prediction is community-led growth. At Social Savvy, we have always led with a community-driven approach to organic social media marketing. Why? Because connections and conversations of social media are more powerful than I think we can emphasize. Social Media is so far from traditional marketing channels like TV ads and billboards, it's a two-way conversation!

Unconventional Storytelling

The next point we loved: unconventional storytelling. They went on to quote their Content Marketing Manager Jordyn Kerr “Stories make things stick" and this quote could not be more true! We might be speaking to the Gen-Zers here, but I can't even tell you how many times I've quoted and re-told a story I saw on TikTok from an influencer or company, because it sticks!

Unfiltered Content + Opinions

We are all for the humor, sass, and touches of personality when it comes to marketing, as evidenced by our own unfiltered podcast for online business owners, so when they brought up this point in their trends report we couldn't agree more! People want to see real people. Goodbye to the days of overly curated, photoshopped, polished brands, and say hello to the era of unfiltered and real!

Statistics We Loved

Segmented Emails

Through their analytics, they found that segmented emails have an open rate of 48.26%, that's significantly more than the 14.98% unsegmented showed. We couldn't be more of a fan of this! In 2023, we made it a goal to declutter our email lists and lean more into segmentation and we are already seeing better results because of this!

Emojis in Subject Lines

The debate about emojis in subject lines of emails continues as they found the results were nearly the same! From this, I think it's safe to say that using a variety in your subject lines to test with your audience specifically might be the best move!

April Highest Conversion Rates

Black Friday who? April showed the highest conversion rates for email in comparison to month-over-month results, by almost a whole percentage point over every other month. With the Spring weather in full spring, it looks like people fill up their online carts, too!

Overall, we thought FloDesk's predictions were spot on and we see these statistics pulled from their data making an impact on the way we email in 2024.

We encourage you to read the entirety of the report here, and if you're not already a FloDesk user, here's 50% off your first year of FloDesk!
