Case Study: A Successful Black Friday Weekend Social Media Campaign

In our 2023 year-end recap and reflections, we couldn't help but keep revisiting this standout client win! While Black Friday has traditionally been associated with long lines and camping outside for those huge in-store deals, recent years have witnessed a surge in online shopping (with no cold parking lot camping needed).

In fact, "90.6 million people shopped online on Black Friday 2023." (And P.S. This doesn't even include the entire weekend of Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Giving/Travel Tuesday.) So, no doubt leveraging Black Friday Weekend campaigns to get more eyes and buyers on your website is crucial. When it comes to launching and promoting these online campaigns, social media emerges as the perfect channel.

To prove this theory, we're highlighting a client case study that blew it out of the park over the Black Friday weekend. Here's our breakdown of the success:

The BFCMTT Campaign Explained

This campaign over the Black Friday weekend covered three promotional days:

  1. Black Friday

  2. Cyber Monday

  3. Travel Tuesday

The campaign entailed a sale of $40 off an upcoming event ticket for this social media management client. On each of the three days mentioned above, we posted a Reel. Each Reel was strategized around promoting the sale, but we wanted each video to not be directly sales-forward. Instead, the Reels were focused on humor and community aspects to hook the audience's attention and lead them to the caption where they could learn about the sale.

The Final Push + INSANE Instagram Engagement

On Travel Tuesday, we posted the final push for the sale and this is what drove the campaign home! What lead to the success? A powerful CTA.

Within both the Instagram Reel and the caption, we included a powerful call-to-action, for users to share a detail about them with us in the comments. With that, we saw a spike in reach and engagement, with over 20k views and 570+ comments!

The Sales Results

This BFMCTT campaign drove an insane amount of Instagram engagement, but beyond that: SALES!

All in all, this campaign sold 32 tickets, totaling to $2,720 and reaching the client's goal.
