A Guide to Creating A Powerful Facebook Community

Whoever said Facebook is dead must not be in a Facebook group...

Facebook Groups aren't for every brand or everyone, but they can be a powerhouse for support, questions, and community, especially when managed in a savvy way! Plus, they are a more defined space to get to know your audience and connection with them on a more personal level. Who doesn't love that?!

Are you thinking of starting a Facebook group? Check out these tips for running a Facebook group before you get started!

How to Build a Successful Facebook Group

  1. Set Rules (and enforce them!). While rules may seem boring, they actually can be a great reference point. You want a group where people feel safe, comfortable, and engaged!

  2. Know Your Audience: Before launching your Facebook community, take the time to understand your audience. What type of content do they most enjoy? What topics do they find most interesting? Knowing these answers will help you create content that resonates with them. Make sure you are still creating a strategy, even for a Facebook group that includes a full audience analysis.

  3. Show Up & Start the Conversation: Are you showing up and adding value to the group? If you don't put time and effort into the group, why should your audience? Your audience wants to feel seen and heard, and admin participation is where it will stem from! So, ask questions, engage with your members, and post consistently to show them how it's done!

  4. Monitor Activity: Monitor your page on a regular basis. Make sure you are enforcing rules and responding to comments, questions, and feedback.

  5. Promote Your Community: Share your page on other social media platforms and let your followers know they are welcome to join. Encourage members to invite their friends and grow your community! Make sure you are also using strong keywords in your title or group description to attract your ideal audience - the Facebook algorithm will work to your advantage with group recommendations!
