The Anatomy Of A Great Instagram Post
A great Instagram post is one of those things that is easy to spot, but difficult to describe. It just has that it factor and draws your attention when you see it. But, the one thing that these stellar posts have in common...their structure!
You should have five basic components to create an engaging and effective post:
PHOTO
It all starts with a great photo! Instagram is a visual platform, which means that your visuals need to be eye-catching. You can choose to use a photo, graphic, or even video! Just make sure that your media type is high-quality and on-brand. Pay attention to how your audience responds to certain posts to see what type of visuals you should be using.
HEADLINE
The headline of a caption is like the title of a book. It tells you if youβre going to be interested in it! Your headline needs to be short and sweet, and tell your reader what the post contains. Think about what the main point of the post is going to be and find a way to sum it up into a headline.
LOCATION
Itβs all about location, location, location! Using a location tag should NOT be underestimated or overlooked. Location tags are part of a good marketing strategy. They help your post get seen by other accounts searching that location tag. You can use location tags to share your business address, your travels, a special event, and so much more.
CAPTIONS
Here is where the main message of your post will be! Captions are where youβre going to connect with your audience, create value, and share about your offerings. There are a million different ways to write a caption, but as a general rule, you want your captions to be authentic, make a point, and be well-written. Establish your brand and authority through your captions and write about whatβs important to you and your audience.
HASHTAGS
Last but not least, hashtags! Hashtags are another part of a good social media marketing strategy. Hashtags allow your post to be seen by other accounts searching that hashtag. Instagram allows you to use up to 30 hashtags per post and you should take advantage of that! Create a few good sets of hashtags for your posts by looking at your industry and community hashtags. (And also put your hashtags in your comments section to avoid a spammy looking post!)
Thatβs the anatomy of a great social media post! This just goes to show that there is a lot more that goes into a high-performing social media post than throwing a picture out there with some emojis in the caption! Add these components into your Instagram post creating process and let us know what your results are!
