Spring Cleaning Your Instagram

I might be alone in this, but I look forward to Spring cleaning more than the warmer weather! That feeling of refreshing, reorganizing, and re-strategizing is definitely something that can't be explained. Let alone, how great it is to remind yourself you're on the right track!

You might have your kitchen, desk, and closet down, but do you include your Instagram on your Spring cleaning checklist? Here's why you should: (1) to make sure you're utilizing your social media to it's full potential (2) to make sure you are hitting your goals!

Auditing your social media is best to do about every quarter, but while you are already deep cleaning the rest of your life, it's good to go in extra detail while you are already in the Spring-cleaning mood, too! Where do you start? We got you -

1.) The Basics

  • Profile photo - Is it up to date? Does it capture your brand image?

  • Name - Do you have searchable keywords?

  • Bio & link - Are both up to date? Do you have a new CTA?

  • Highlights - It's best to keep it under 4 weeks and use them as a mini-website for your IG!

  • Feed content - What worked best?

  • Stories content - What stories worked best?

  • Engagement / DM strategy - Do you have one? How are you welcoming new followers? Are you DMing people who vote in your polls? Are your replying to ALL comments?

2.) The Strategy

Once the basics are freshened up, look to your content strategy! Start by looking for areas of the platform that you are not utilizing, now could be the time to implement them into your strategy! Next, take a look at what's performing best. Find the trends in them and think about how to repurpose that into new content that could as do just as well. Lastly, visit the content that didn't do as well. Reflect on why it was not as successful and think of new ideas to redo it for better results.

3.) The Funnel

Your Instagram funnel is what converts your followers into sales, so it is an important part of your process to say the least! Social media is not a place for cold sales, and your funnel should reflect that. Your funnel should include the process of attracting your audience, nurturing the relationship, and converting that relationship into a sale. Is yours doing that?

The next step: enjoy your newly spring cleaned and optimized Instagram account and remember to repeat the auditing process even we aren't springing into a new season!
