There are roles for different personality types and skill sets to shine through. In this blog, we are doing a deep dive into the roles in the social media industry, the definitions of each, and how they differentiate from one another so that you can find the title that best suits you!

Social Media Manager
A social media manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of social media. This can include content creation and scheduling, community engagement, DM management, and strategy, on various social media platforms.
Social Media Strategist
A social media strategist takes a more strategic approach to social media. They focus on developing a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the brand's goals, but are likely not implementing the day-to-day management or community management.
Content Creator
A content creator is an individual who produces various types of content social media, and often moves into websites, blogs, YouTube, podcasts, and more as well.
Influencer
Social media influencers are often confused with content creators. While there is overlap between the two roles, there are also differences in the roles as well. Influencers are generally more focused on influencing products, building their personal brand, collaborating with brands.
Ads Specialist
Someone who specializes in managing and optimizing campaigns, particularly through paid platforms such as Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, or other digital advertising channels. Their main focus is on driving targeted traffic, increasing brand visibility, achieving specific advertising objectives, and any other goals of the individual brand and/or campaign.
Social Media Analyst
A social media analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to social media performance. They track and measure key metrics, conduct competitive analysis, and provide insights and recommendations for improving social media strategies. Social media analysts help optimize campaigns, assess audience behavior, and monitor trends to inform decision-making. This is a great role for anyone with an analytical mindset!
Community Manager
A community manager is focused on engaging and managing the online community surrounding a brand or organization. They respond to comments and messages, address customer inquiries or concerns, facilitate discussions, and build relationships with followers. Community managers ensure a positive and active community presence on social media.
Engagement Strategist
A person who specializes in developing and implementing strategies to increase audience engagement and enhance the overall brand experience across various channels and platforms. They are all about driving positive engagement with the brand, based on the time and research they put into getting to know them.
