Instagram Insights: Which Ones Should You Track?

Let’s talk about Instagram insights! Most people are familiar with likes and comments, but those numbers are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Instagram analytics. You want to pay attention to certain numbers because they are going to tell you how effective your social media strategy is. Don’t let all the numbers and jargon scare you off. It’s completely doable to conquer the world of analytics!

LIKES, COMMENTS, AND SAVES

These are the basics when it comes to Instagram insights! They tell you how engaged your audience is in your posts. These are what we typically call “vanity” metrics. They are more visible metrics but don't necessarily equal conversions or purchases. However, go ahead and keep track of them for growth purposes.

REACH

Reach is the number of accounts or people that have seen your post. You’ll notice that your reach is probably lower than your total follower count. It’s rare for all of your followers to view your posts. This means you want to focus on expanding your reach and connecting with new accounts.

IMPRESSIONS

Not to be confused with reach, impressions are the total amount of times that your content has been seen. That means that one profile could see your post multiple times with each viewing adding to your impression rate. You want to pay attention to your impressions because they tell you how many times your post is being visited. Even if you have a lower reach, your impressions can be high.

PROFILE & WEBSITE CLICKS

Profile and website clicks mean that your content interested your audience enough for them to want to know more about you! This is an analytic you really want to pay attention to. It doesn’t take a lot to like a post, but it’s a more involved action to visit someone’s website. Make sure that your profile and website are optimized and have a call-to-action.

Instagram insights aren’t too bad, and you’ll be a pro in no time! Analytics are something we’re very passionate about and can really help with social media strategizing. Now all you have to do is open up a Google spreadsheet and start tracking!
