How CLEARSTEM Skincare + Haircare Is Crushing It With Event Marketing
Though our primary focus is on digital marketing, we can't help but appreciate a well-rounded marketing strategy through many different mediums. With this, comes event marketing!
You might have heard of a breakthrough skincare and haircare brand, CLEARSTEM. They offer a variety of skincare and haircare products in their line such as cleansers, sunscreen, supplements, serums, scrubs, and more.
We recently came across one of their TikTok's with a pop-up they did in New York City, with a fun way to give samples of their product. Check it out below!
After watching this, we had to do our typical social media manager stalking to find out what else they have been up to, and it didn't take much to find out how awesome they are with events.
What is Event Marketing?
Event marketing is a strategy where brands create, sponsor, or participate in events to engage with their target audience directly — from pop-up shops, and workshops to conferences and masterclasses. Think about Tarte's infleuncer trips, the Coachella brand events, the pop-ups you see at the mall, or the fun events in your community.
What are the Benefits of Event Marketing?
Events allow brands to foster a personal connection with potential customers, and create memorable experiences. We love all the amazing DMs we get, and our online besties. But, we can't help but think — what if we could meet all these amazing people in person, too? That's exactly what events are for, meeting new audiences, growing deeper connections with your current audience, and creating an experience for your customers that lasts.
With product-based brands specifically, this can be a great way for potential customers to try out your products and get a feel of it, before purchasing on their own. Who doesn't stop at the Costco samples, right? This is such a great strategy for getting your product in the hands of consumers so you can skip the 'adds to cart and contemplates for 3 months if this is the right fit', but even beyond that into product testing and starting conversations for research and development purposes.
With service-based brands, this is great for putting faces behind your brand and getting to know your audience. We all know that sometimes leads can be difficult to close — they have questions, they have doubts. Events can become a space where you can get to know them and have those types of conversations that can allow you to move up a few steps in the customer purchasing journey.
How CLEARSTEM is Crushing Event Marketing
Hosting Online + In-Person Events
CLEARSTEM is not only offering fun pop-ups, like the NYC 'Take what you need' pop-up mentioned above, but they are regularly hosting all kinds of events across multiple states, in person and virtually.
Mixing Educational + Fun
With the skincare and haircare product industry, there has been a lot of uncertainty about what's going into our products, what each ingredient does, and how to explain that to the average consumer who isn't a formulation scientist. So, they are taking an educational approach with masterclasses and trainings from their founders, team, and skincare experts. Of course, you can't have educational events without fun added, too! During their events, they involve fun aspects like mini facials, gifted products, and Q&A sessions.
Collaborations
They are currently sponsoring the Ladygang podcast tour, a podcast focused on making women feel like they aren't alone with all the issues, situations, and fun things that womanhood involves. Their audience and conversations align well with CLEARSTEMs target audience and mission, making this the perfect fit. Not to mention, that they are also sponsoring all kinds of giveaways and samples during their tour, too. For both of these brands, this was a great move to team up and create something fun and relatable for their audience!
Final Thoughts
This blog isn't sponsored, we promise! We love a brand that takes a fun approach to marketing its brand, and this is exactly the same energy we harness in our client's strategies, too. This is a great example of how you can create a mixed channel approach with your marketing, and make educational and promotional aspects of your brand a fun experience for your audience — to hook them in and keep them coming! We hope you take a few lessons out of CLEARSTEM's marketing burn book with this one, whether you are looking to dip a toe into event marketing or not, there are a few lessons that can apply no matter the marketing channel you choose.
