Social Media Trends for 2022

New year, new…..TRENDS! As social media managers and social media strategists, we need to be at the forefront of these trends to learn, craft, and leverage all the changes and trends 2022 has in store for us. Of course, that’s way easier said than done as not only knowing about the trends but also, capitalizing on them, is one of the many tasks we have to do in between researching, strategizing, creating, scheduling, finding clients, engaging, and the list goes on.

So, we’re here to spill the tea about the 2022 trends to help you get ahead before the year even hits us! You have to check out these top five 2022 trends -

1. TikTok.

*Cue whichever TikTok sound is stuck in your head right now.* TikTok isn’t going anywhere in 2022, as it will definitely continue to dominate the world of social media! With 1 billion users globally, TikTok is skyrocketing. So, when it comes to investing time and/or money into TikTok, definitely go for it in 2022, if you haven’t already!

2. Long-Form Content

We know, we know, short-attention spans still run the world (Thank God). However, TikTok increased its video lengths to 3 minutes, reels went to 60 seconds, there is definitely a small trend here! The key to winning one might be to find a balance between bite-sized/short-form content and long-form to keep users engaged. Or, at least knowing which your audience prefers!

3. Video Content

Not only TikTok but videos in general! Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Videos, Instagram Stories - we are all here for it, addicted and, of course, with the sound cranked just high enough that it’s driving our significant others’ nuts. It’s eye-catching, captivating, and...wait, did I say addicting already??? Don’t be afraid to do some trial and error on creating video content and see how it works with your audience.

4. Quality over Quantity

For years, so many people pushed just getting content out there and being present on socials. Not anymore, sis! Meaningful, relatable, conversational content will most likely continue to thrive in 2022. Brands need to be more about connection and quality now more than ever. And it doesn’t just apply to creating quality content. You should strive for quality interactions, engagement, followers, and all things social media. You have 3k followers, but only 20 likes? No, thank you.

5. Social Media as a Selling and Shopping Platform

Augmented Reality for trying on items? Teaming up with influencers? The possibilities are endless when it comes to selling and shopping on social media. We consume so much social content, we might as well be getting our shopping fix in! With the pandemic, social media as an E-commerce outlet soared, and it’s only continuing to grow with new features and users. This can be an AMAZING step for all our small businesses out there to be seen and hit those sales goals!
